CASTING CALL FOR  ABOUT HIM  THE STAGE PLAY 

 

A young boy struggles through his journey of coming out the closet. 

 

Isiah - 17 year old,  African American, high school senior on a journey of coming out.  He is inexperienced and secretly in love with his best friend. He struggles trying to understand his feelings. Must be able to sing and dance. 

 

Hakeem- 17 year old, African American, best friend of Isiah, confused bisexual looking for love and understanding. Has a very dark coming out experience. Singing or rapping ability is a plus. 

 

Tracey- 45 year old, African American, Mother of Isiah. Bible carrying Christian that is against homosexuality. Her son is all she has left after a recent divorce and death of her father.  Must be able to sing.

 

Mikah - 20 year old, African American, Flamboyant energetic comedic gay cousin. He is openly gay and very educated on the gay life.  Must be able to sing.

 

John - 27 year old, masculine black gay male, looking like something out a magazine. John has been through the struggle of coming out and is standing on the other side. His wisdom helps guide the younger boys on their journey.  Must be able to sing.

 

Issac - 45 year old, African American,  open minded father. Loves his son more than life itself is very supportive of his son and wants to be there and guide him as much as he can.

Actors must have availably for Tuesday evenings and Saturday morning for rehearsal in April and May. 

 

The Play opens May 15th in Atlanta and travels 2 weekends a month through out the summer and into early fall.
